Irish Made Easy
A Step-by-Step Beginner's Guide to Learning the Irish Language
A clear, gradual introduction to Irish for complete beginners and returning learners, covering pronunciation, everyday vocabulary and the foundations of grammar.
About the book
Irish Made Easy is written for adults approaching the language for the first time, as well as those returning to Irish they last studied at school. It sets out the essentials in a measured order, beginning with how Irish sounds and how its spelling relates to pronunciation, with phonetic guidance throughout.
From there the book builds a working vocabulary for greetings, people, places, food, numbers, colours and feelings, and introduces the grammatical features that most often puzzle beginners, including lenition and eclipsis. Short dialogues and role plays place the language in familiar situations, while proverbs, idioms and informal expressions give a sense of how Irish is spoken today.
The approach is patient and practical, suited to readers who want a steady foundation rather than a phrasebook.
