Irish Made Easy 2: Speak with Confidence
An Intermediate Guide to The Irish Language
The second volume in the series, written for learners who know the basics and want to speak Irish at greater length and with more confidence.
About the book
Following on from Irish Made Easy, this intermediate guide helps readers move from simple phrases to fuller, more natural speech. It explains word order, questions and connecting words, so that learners can form longer sentences, and introduces the past and future tenses for describing events and making plans.
The vocabulary widens to cover travel, food, shopping, the weather and everyday conversation, along with ways of expressing feelings, preferences and opinions. Practical sections deal with reading signs, menus and public notices. Songs, stories, short poetry extracts and traditional proverbs offer a route into rhythm and idiom, and an introduction to the Connacht, Munster and Ulster dialects explains how Irish varies across the country.
The book closes with suggestions for continuing to learn through immersion, Gaeltacht visits and Irish language media.
